Glossy Finds: Bohemian Leaf Chair

Because I know you've all been coveting the chair on the current issue of Domino...


Now you can imitate the colorful and ecelectic style of fashion designer Matthew Williamson with your own rattan leaf chair from Wisteria. I actually think it's a very cool piece in his dining room. It mixes it up perfectly with the mid-mod chairs and flocked wallpaper, and draws in the color of the doors. (Dunno if I could live with it however!)

Actually, I found one of these chairs in an antiques store a few weeks back and wondered what on earth I would do with it if I bought it...

Creating a little sitting nook in the dining room looks like a fun option! Especially since I wouldn't really want anyone sitting in it. Hmmmmm...

The Bohemian Vibe Goes Dark

Even though the ethnic prints have been worn to death in the past year (thank you Madeline Weinrib)... there must be something about the transition from summer to fall and the bohemian California sunshine that's making me love them all over again... but like this:

I'm over the mod/trad look with a dash of print... I'm way more into dark wood, layers of pattern, and a touch of glamour like this room belonging to Anh Duong, featured in Elle Decor. (I'll take the dress too!)

Ahn's home was featured in 2004... which goes to show that these Ikat, Suzani and African patterns really are timeless, despite the trends. And the look isn't as complicated as it may seem.

All it would really take is one or two statement pieces like these (via Vintage And Modern), and a fabulous pattern like this one from Brunschwig & Fils.

This room, via Elle Decor, has always been one of my favorites. It incorporates the dark and intricate with the light and elegant perfectly. While a bit more clean, it's certainly not modern ~ every single piece here fits the theme.

In order to provide a little balance to a darker space, pieces like these help keep things from getting too heavy. Brass dresser and rattan sofa from Graham and Green. Vintage Italian table from Mecox Gardens, and antique applique pillow from B.Viz Designs.

Glossy Finds: Gourmet Table Settings

This might be one of those instances of me being very behind the times, but it seems that Gourmet Magazine (which has the best covers, as far as I'm concerned) has expanded its new website even further with their extremely helpful "Get the Look" feature that shows you exactly where to resource items they've used to style up their spreads! This month's theme was "Rollin' on the River", and here's what they've suggested...

Glossy Finds: Aptware for the Table

It usually takes me weeks before I get to the latest issue of my Domino, but with the ridiculously hot weather this weekend, I took the opportunity to catch up on my reading by the pool, and this piece really caught my eye...


I had never heard of Aptware before, and now am completely in love with the swirl of pattern that coats these pieces created by master artisans in France.


Aptware originated in a small village at the foothills of the Luberon in France around the mid-l8th century. They say the colors of the pieces were naturally inspired by the soils of the region - a variety of yellow, red, green, brown and white pigments which create the glaze for these pieces.


Some pieces are more vibrant in color than others. I love the brightness of these options from the Atelier du Vieil Apt, which is the creator of the pieces featured in Domino.


While I don't know that I'd want a whole table filled with these pieces - mixing them up with some clean white pieces would make for a different and lovely tabletop... don't you think?

Glossy Finds: Italia Style

I was obsessing over this room from Elle Decor Italia about a month ago ~ I don't know how practical it is, but for some reason I found it very soothing visually. Maybe because of the simplicity of it, and of course the use of my favorite green! My favorite piece in the room was the chair though, so I've been looking for something similar...



Last week I stumbled upon a couple different designs similar to the one in the room on a great site, the Scandanavian Design Center. (And as we know, Scandanavian design right now is hot hot hot!).



Created by Swedish designer Björn Dahlström, the "Superstructure" chair can definitely stand alone as a statement piece for a room. And it should be for the price!



Another smaller option is this garden chair from Norway Says. Again, it has similar lines to the chair in the room, and is much more affordable than the other chair! I'm still searching for the one in the photo, so if anyone has any ideas, let me know!

Room of the Week 6.7

Someone at Domino Magazinee has been stalking me. Ok, not really, but how much does this gorgeous outdoor setup (featured in last month's issue)...
