Just in case you haven't already noticed, bright shades of orange and yellow are popping up everywhere for spring... and right into fall...

After seeing the J.Crew Fall RTW collection, I think it's safe to officially say that powder blue and rich burgundy are back too.

And, for the record...

LIVE FROM THE RUNWAY: TORY BURCH FALL 2011

As most of you know, it's fashion week in NYC, and this past Sunday I was beyond thrilled to attend Tory Burch's Fall RTW presentation on behalf of coco+kelley so I could bring you all the visual goodness to enjoy. Let's get on with the show!

Tory Burch showed an incredibly wearable interpretation of the 1970s trend for Fall. Flowing wide legged pants, ruffled blouses and a mix of plaids and prints made up the gorgeous collection. The line was rendered in pinks, reds and blues on a back drop of neutrals making the pieces entirely accessible. 

Tory's mix of knits, tweeds and leather paired with her flowing skirts and pants added a dramatic layers to the collection. The furry arm trend that's been spotted in a few fall collections made an appearance here as well. My favorite look - a shimmery metallic skirt paired with a baggy knit turtleneck was one part glamorous, one part cozy- the perfect fall equation.

TWO IN LOVE

I'm pretty sure these are the only two looks I need to get me through the month...

Either one could be playfully perfect for day or night! And if I could actually get away with those pants I would die happy.

A CHILL IN THE AIR...

There's been quite a shift in our weather this week - from the sunny fall days barely requiring a coat that make you want to get outside to enjoy the crispness in the air...


... To ice-coated mornings that have me feeling like winter is just around the corner. The time of year where I dream of staying in all day and lounging around in whatever is strikes my fancy...


Even if it means never getting out of bed at all!

NOUVEAU NOMAD

With the brisk morning air we've had in Seattle the last few days, I'm getting ready for a serious wardrobe change, and this editorial has me inspired...

The crazy mix of layers in muted prints and patterns, accessorized with eccentricity (are those garden gloves i spy?) is such a fun way to cozy into the fall.

How to get the look yourself without going overboard? Layer on patterned pieces in classic prints and keep the palette simple. Top it off with burgundy lips and nails for a real mood-changer.

This look might be my favorite and is certainly serving as some serious holiday inspiration as well!

Maybe even a touch of fur??

HAPPY (FABULOUSLY FALL) WEEKEND!

These weekends are the kind I savor - one with no big plans or deadlines, just a little time to myself before the madness starts up again! Things are about to get busy with birthday and holidays, so it could be the last chance I have to really soak in some fall sunshine and get out to enjoy the already-changing leaves...


Of course, there's something to be said for cozying in at home too...

FASHION PROGRESSION?

Monday mornings I always wake up wishing I could slip on something just as comfy as Sunday's loungewear to head to work in...

By Wednesday I start to feel a little less sloppy, so I layer some comfies over my classies...

And friday? Well friday is date night, so it's time to step things up a little bit!

... that is before I get home and throw back on those sweats.

What do we all think of this whole loungewear to workwear business anyway? I'm not sure I'm buying into it... reminds me an awful lot of velour tracksuit epidemic back in the day. Then again, this was my typical workwear when I used to work from home, so maybe fashion's just catching up to all us stylish bloggers?

HAPPY (WARM) WEEKEND

It's an unseasonably warm day here in Seattle, and I couldn't be happier about it! On top of our weather, warm tones for fall have me swooning as well... a little October inspiration on the first day of my favorite month? Yes please...


Obviously we're all feeling the leopard prints this week as I've seen tons of other bloggers posting on their favorite print - and I'm so on board with it! In fact, I chose a lovely leopard-print top as one of my fall must-haves in the fall issue of Sloane mag. Check it out to see the rest of the goodies I included (page 10, you can't miss it!).

PRIM + PROPER

I've always been a fan of more classic cuts and vintage styling, so for fall I'm dreaming of dressing myself up in pieces like these and spending crisp sunny days lounging in English gardens




Amazingly enough, this editorial is from October 2004... funny how things grow on you, isn't it? The ladylike sensibilities of this styling is stronger than ever for fall this year, and I for one am a huge fan. Design seems to be simplifying and going back to the classics more and more these days...

INSPIRED INTO FALL

The very first day it hit 80 degrees here in Seattle, we received our first shipment of sweaters at Anthropologie... so you really can't blame me for already having fall wardrobe planning on the brain! But, when I saw these recent arrangements from my all time favorite floral designer, Saipua, it took my inspiration to a whole other level...

Plums and caramels mixed with summer's barely there pinks are perfect as we transition into cooler weather (and, you don't have to put away your sunglasses yet... !)

And cozy cardis over dresses with that little pop of the rosé to remind us that summer has not quite yet left us behind...

STUNNING LINES: BOUCHRA JARRAR

With all the frills and detailing usually involved in couture collections, the simple lines and striking touches of gold in Bouchra Jarrar's fall show were such an unexpected breath of fresh air... and just as equally stunning.


It just goes to show that drama and glamour don't have to be over-the-top to have an impact -  a philosophy that would do well translated into any room (like this one right here) or wardrobe.

CUTEST. CAMPAIGN. EVER.

You know how I always say that I love design with a sense of humour?

This is exactly what I'm talking about. Still chic and gorgeous, but with that touch of whimsy that lets people know that we're not taking it all so seriously. Completed by the fact that they chose Natalia Vodianova for the shoot. She's hands-down my fave.

DVF PRE-FALL: SHIMMER + FEATHERS

Absolutely loving these dresses from the Diane von Furstenberg Pre-Fall collection...
They make a girl wanna shimmy! Am also loving the feathery trims and touch of sparkle...
Forget 2010... I want these now!

Pre Fall Runway Selections

Thank goodness for holidays. It means I actually have the time to spend a few hours going through the Pre Fall 09 collections to prepare myself for the year ahead! A few of my favorite selections my dears...

Vera Wang (above and below): I haven't really been in love with Vera lately, but something about this collection really made me fall in love again with her classic style. The bows and embellished details aren't over the top, and her fabric choices are flawless, plus the simple color scheme with a focus on grey and black is right up my alley!


Zac Posen: I haven't really loved an entire collection of Zac's lately - just certain pieces - but this one was practically flawless! While some of of the shapes didn't quite come together for me, the styling, details and colors were fantastic. These three were my favorites, but you should see all the pieces together. Stunning.

Alexander Wang: While these dresses would be more appropriate for the Spring, I still love the simplicity and structure, especially the sheer black over the pale pale pink (at least, I think it's pink...).

Rachel Roy: The more I see from her, the more I love. Great mix of textures and patterns, love the suit and those SHOES!!! Just fantastic. Really loved the whole collection.

Isaac Mizrahi: I'm head over heels for this particular shade of really deep lilac, and paired with that camel, I think it's gorgeous. The dress was a surprising addition to the collection - I'm not sure that it fit, but I really liked the idea of it.

Missoni: What can I say? I just love the patterns that come out of this fashion house! The oversized chrevron just looks so cozy, and the plaid with fringe is fantastic!

Doo.Ri: Don't you think everyone looks good in this color? I was immediately drawn to these two ensembles from doo.ri simply because of that pale aqua. Again, seems a little more spring than fall to me, but I won't complain. I love it paired with grey and some soft ruffles.

Burberry Prorsum: The second collection to feature the pants over the shoes (Vera had it too!) I think it's safe to say this could be the next trend for fall... but we'll see. Love the deep purple jacket. I wish I had it to keep me warm now! And I'm a sucker for textured grey.

And finally...

My favorite dress. From Carolina Herrera, no surprise. The pattern reminds me of the Prada skirt from Spring RTW08 that I absolutely loved, and the cut is incredibly flattering. Plus the pop of electric blue? Genius! I think that skirt (also green, by the way, in case you don't recall!) was the rebirth of me loving the idea of plaid. *photo by Patrick Demarchelier
