ROOM OF THE WEEK: 4.21

Glamour. White on white. And a hit of green. Seriously - what's not to love?

I'm pretty sure my next apartment won't be as big as this bedroom, but if it were, this is exactly how I'd set it up. Well... I'd add a little more personality and punch. And hardwood floors. But let's focus on the space at hand. What do you think? Honestly, big bedrooms like this intimidate me a bit. The most I've ever had to deal with was a little space for a small seating area. But an entire living room? And desk?

Now, normally, I might say this is a little *yawn*... but isn't that what you want in a bedroom? Something simple and calming as you drift off to sleep? If anything, I'd change the paint or flooring to something a little darker... maybe the curtains as well. But the simple gold accents everywhere are putting me over the edge in love. And that green color? It's about to be everywhere. Mark my words.

Thoughts? Hate? Love? I don't know if I could honestly live with it... but I know I love it!

BUNNY WILLIAMS + REDEFINING GLAMOUR

Recently I was asked (for the 100th time) what trend it is that I'm most sick of these days. And as I pondered the answer, I realized it's not so much a trend that I'm over, but a look. Specifically, the typical pieces used to put together what I consider to be the most generalized definition of 'glamour' to the majority. Gold or chrome finishes, zebra rugs, graphic prints (likely zig zags), lucite, at least one oversized piece that creates a bold presence in the room, and tons of accessories. Apart, I still love them all, but together they're getting quite predictable.

As someone who likes to define my own spaces with the word glamour, I feel ready for a redefinition of the term...

Which is why when I saw this simple but (yes!) glamorously inspired space by Bunny Williams in the latest Elle Decor, I was struck with the thought that perhaps this is what I'm leaning towards? It's a somewhat odd but cohesive mix of styles, with a completely practical sofa paired alongside statement chairs and a very noticeable lack of clutter. The coffee table definitely takes the prize for most glam piece in the room, and the high gloss finishes certainly help support it, but the overall feel is modern glamour... simplified. Even the pairing of pillows on the sofa with that unexpected leopard lend themselves to this more relaxed, effortless idea of glamorous style. There's no bold graphic rug, dripping chandelier or gilded mirror. It's soft, welcoming and livable.

So, what do you think? Is it boring and blah? Or refreshing? Are there elements missing that you would add to help define it as a glamorous space? I'd love to hear your thoughts!

ROOM OF THE WEEK 6.10

I just started collecting some inspiration for a new client last night, and this gorgeous space caught my eye...

The mix of high end glamour with a minimalist sensibility is so, so perfect. The light in the room doesn't hurt either! Those perfect pouf ottomans are insanely gorgeous!! Also loving the mirrored fireplace screen - it adds such a perfect touch, don't you think? The only suggestion I'd have is adding a few more classic or rustic touches to balance the retro-modern feel. And... perhaps a larger coffee table? What are your thoughts, my dears?? You know I always love to hear from you!

Happy (Ruby) Weekend!

I'm off to Portland this afternoon (sniffly nose and all!) to celebrate my good friend Nora's impending nuptials with a little engagement party...

Her wedding colors are a sumptuous red, and the party is black dresses only (and girls only!), so I thought this image from Skona Hem said it all. Tabletop Inspiration: Fantasy Dining

I don't know if it would be realistic to recreate this completely glamorous tablescape for a fabulous dinner party or the holiday season, but I would love to try!

Scattering white roses (or other flowers) in small vessels down the table would be easy. The furry throws are available at Ikea. It's recreating those chandeliers that would be a bit of a challenge - and they are definitely the focal point of this table - but how amazing would it be?

Get Glam With Winifred Grace

With a name like Winifred Grace, I wouldn't necessarily expect to find a jewelry collection with a rocker-chic vibe, but these vintage-inspired pieces are all that and more!


The bracelet perfectly suits my sensibilities. A glamorous and sassy all in one - and a piece that will go from day to night. Gotta love a little versatility!

How cool are these earrings? I love the way she weaves the different metals together ~ the mix and match of the gold against the oxidized silver is stunning!


And, I am SO in love with this necklace. It reminds me of the layered chain look we've seen a lot this season on the runways...

Soho Chic

The Soho House in New York is a member's only club and hotel that is so incredibly chic, I'm not sure where to start...

Enter the restaurant, where the range of textures, lines, and materials throughout create unique space, especially with a soothing and unexpected green interspersed in one of the main tables and the stunning chandeliers.

Care to lounge for a bit? Yes please... especially in that sumptuous deep teal, which lends depth to such mod chairs. I especially love the exposed brick, and the two wing chairs flanking the windows... I would definitely settle into those to do some people watching here!


While each room has a different scheme, I far prefer this one above the rest. Who wouldn't feel like royalty residing in this space for a few days? A perfectly clean blend of tradition and modern styles (most of which are recognizable pieces from DWR). But my favorite part might be exposed beams, which I am obsessing over at the moment! I'll definitely be doing a separate post on those soon ...

Room of the Week 1.7

Ok, so it's not really a room. It's a bar. But I love it. Love the stools, love the collection of vintage shakers, and love the lightness of it. Who wouldn't want this in a little corner of their home?



Of course, if I had a whole basement to work with...



Yeah, I'd do that. Zebra rugs and all! I love to entertain, so what would be better than just having a full bar set up and ready to go?
